CATS
Cats are wonderful animals, and while they can be seen as quiet independent, they still need time, love and money to be happy and healthy. Your cat will need yearly vaccinations against Feline Infectious Enteritis, Cat Flu, Feline Chlamydia and Feline Leukaemia. Whether male our female, you should always get your cat neutered. And be prepared for any other vet bills due to illness or accident in its lifetime, which can be 15+ years. Your cat should be fed a diet of both wet and dry cat foods. And always have a bowl of fresh clean water available. Always start to litter train your cat immediately. A litter tray should be available 24-7, not left near the cats food, and cleaned out regularly. Kittens should be kept inside till around six months of age, then slowly introduced to the great outdoors. Once they are let outside, access should be made available, a cat flap is the ideal solution to this. Cats, although independent, still love companionship and stimulation. Consider homing two cats as company for eachother. And provide your cat/s with toys to play with. A scratching post is also advisable, to let your cat trim its claws and to protect your furniture. If you are very houseproud, please consider this before giving a cat a home, they may scratch wallpaper/furniture, how would you feel about this? Please if you decide a cat is for you, Visit your local rescue centre. There are thousands of wonderful cats of all ages and breeds looking for homes. And you will have the peace of mind that the cat has been vet checked, and neutered/vaccinated etc before they are rehomed. The rescue centre will also give any help or advice you may need.
